Chords Canada will ship to all street addresses in Canada.  We also ship to many foreign countries, including United States, Great Britain, France, and Australia, among others.  (We do not ship to the Orient.)  Please feel free to inquire as to whether we can ship to your address.

For deliveries outside Canada: duty, brokerage, taxes and miscellaneous charges may apply to shipments to your country.  If so, these charges are the customer’s responsibility.

Chords Canada uses a variety of shipping methods.  (Depending on the product being shipped,  some may not be available.)  We regularly use United Parcel Service (UPS), Purolator, FedEx, and Canada Post.  If you have a preferred carrier, whether from that list or some other carrier, please specify that at the time you place your order.  Feel free to contact us for an estimated shipping cost before you order. (Actual cost can only be known after your order has been fully packed).  For customers within driving distance of our warehouse, you are welcome to come in and pick up your order personally.

No liability can be accepted by Chords Canada for failure of goods to arrive on a specified date or the consequences thereof. Please refer to section on Lost or Damaged Shipments for further information.

For delivery to addresses in Canada, the 6% GST is extra and will be added to final billing.  For Ontario addresses, the 8% PST is also extra and will be added to final billing.

Outside of Ontario, it is your responsibility to ensure that any applicable taxes are paid to the appropriate agencies in your specific jurisdiction.

Payment Methods

Payment terms are COD unless otherwise specified.  For your convenience, Chords Canada accepts payments by Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, bank wire, bank draft, and Canadian cash.  If a credit card payment is being made through PayPal, the ship-to address must match the registered address.  (If you wish to ship to a different address, please contact us to discuss whether this can be done.)

Lost or Damaged Shipments

Lost shipments are the liability of the carrier.  If a package is received in damaged condition, you or your receiver should note this when signing for it. You should then file your claim with the carrier. Any claims for loss or damage to goods in transit are between the customer and the carrier; it is the customer’s responsibility to deal with the carrier.

For shipments sent via United Parcel Service: UPS will not begin a trace until five business days have passed. If you think your shipment may be lost, or to report a damaged UPS shipment, please contact our order desk.  Chords will help you initiate a trace and/or possible claim proceedings.  (Note: UPS will only accept claim calls from the shipper, not the customer.)

You must request permission and receive a return authorization number and shipping instructions from us before returning any products. Claims for defective goods will only be accepted for return with Chords’ consent.  Goods which are returned without prior authorization, or by a carrier other than as instructed by Chords Canada, will not be accepted and will be returned to you at your expense.  Certain items have restricted return policies - see below for specific products.

Claims for defective or incorrect shipments must be reported within 30 days from date of invoice; goods will be held for Chords Canada's examination.  Any credit issued will be based on Chords Canada's inspection and count. No credit will be given for products no longer shown in our system, or for soiled, used, damaged, mixed or otherwise unsaleable parts. The measure of claim for any defective goods will be only the price paid. No claims will be allowed for expenses incurred in the use or installation of the goods.

If Chords’ inspection confirms a defect or fault, full value (including the return freight charges) will be issued to you, either in the form of a credit note or by Chords shipping new material to replace your purchase.  Please note that Chords Canada does not offer refunds, nor do we permit cashing in of outstanding credit notes.

Special Policy –  Audio/Visual Products
Chords Canada assures customers that all Audio/Visual product we list is new (unless otherwise specified in our online catalogue) and in good, listenable/watchable condition at the time of shipment.  Due to the nature of A/V items and the proliferation of electronic media copying facilities, all Audio/Visual sales are final.  Chords regrets that we are unable to offer a return or refund privilege for these products.

Special Policy – Shamisen and Kokyū
Chords Canada assures customers that any shamisen or kokyū we ship is in pristine condition at the time of shipment (unless otherwise specified in our online catalogue).  Our shippers pack your instrument with the utmost care and attention.  Chords keeps a detailed photo record on file of the instrument and of how it was packaged.  Shamisen and kokyū shipments usually arrive with no problems.  However, due to the nature of their respective construction, you need to be aware that there is a minor risk of damage in shipping these products.  Any damage incurred would be due to improper handling by the carrier.  (Please refer to section on Lost or Damaged Shipments for further information.)  Due to the nature of the shamisen and kokyū and their construction, the customer agrees and understands that Chords ships these products to them at customer's own risk.  Therefore, Chords Canada regrets that we are unable to offer a return or refund privilege for these products.  In the unlikely event that damage does occur, however, Chords can refer you to people who are skilled in effecting the necessary repairs.
