The concept

These words describe different stages in an argument. A useful explanation separates the object, the claim and the evidence. We write for readers who want the vocabulary to question a document without needing a product ranking.

A distinction worth keeping

An editor can accidentally promote an attributed statement into an observation by removing its speaker. Use the term to ask a more precise question of the document. Identify who is speaking, which object is being described and what observation would be needed to go further. A clearer definition should reduce ambiguity without pretending to resolve the underlying facts.

Put it into practice

Keep the speaker visible whenever the statement has not been independently established. Keep the question, the source reference and the remaining limitation together so that a later reader can reconstruct the reasoning. This article is an editorial documentation exercise; it does not report a physical device test or assign a product score.
